A Serendipitous Moment

I’ve been craving ice cream for several days now.

Today, on my walk home from the grocery store, I saw an ice cream truck.

I kept walking.

Something in me tugggged. So, I turned around.

I pulled out my wallet. I got my strawberry cone.

The owner, a Peruvian man, commented on the patch on the front of my sweats.

He told me that it reminded him of his grandmother, and of his home country where everyone uses patches instead of buying new clothes.

He told me it was called parchar.

I continued my walk, content with the fullness of wholesome dialogue and strawberry ice cream.

I was reminded of life’s interconnectivity.

And to listen to the tugging within.

My desire for ice cream led me to have a meaningful conversation with a stranger.

But no one is really a stranger; we are bound together by experiences and nostalgia.

I was reminded that my passions aren’t new or unique to me; they connect me to others. To everything.

Keep leaning in!
